Ruins:
Tulum, Coba, and Chichen Itza The Best Know Ruins
Tulum is 15 min. to our south.Coba is 1 hour inlandChichen Itza is 2.5 hours inland,Equally wonderful, but much less visited are Chunyaxche and Ex Balaam.
• Chunyaxche is within 40 min. away with a Mayan village unchanged from living the way their ancestors lived, close by.
• Ex Balaam, combined with a visit to the beautiful colonial town of Valladolid,Yucatan is one of the best-kept secrets.
There are many other archeological sites available for the serious Mayan Buff.
History:
Villas De Rosa / Aquatech Dive Center is located in the heart of Mexico's cave diving world. Cave diving emerged in the Akumal-Tulum area during the mid 1980's, when divers discovered that the cenotes (natural wells) were windows to the underground streams. This began an entire New Frontier! As cave divers continued to explore, more cave systems were discovered. Today, there are over fifty-seven differenty cave systems to visit with more than 300 miles of passageways to explore and enjoy. Five of the largest water filled cave systems in the world are located in this area. The three longest known stalactitas are also located in the area's systems. History continues to be made as new roads are blazoned into the jungle, allowing access to more and more virgin cenotes. Aquatech's professional staff of cave divers and instructors is a major force in creating this living history.
Open Water Reef Diving:
The Mesoamerican Coral Reef stretches over 600 miles from the nothern tip of Cancun, south to the islands of Honduras. This enormous coral wall is second only to the Great Barrier Reef in Australia.
This wonderful creation lies just outside our front doors. We offer daily one or two tank dive trips to these beautiful decorated,still unspoiled reef systems, all less than 10 minutes away by boat. Visit Bad-Head Reef, Wonderland, Grouper Canyons, and Escuela, just a few of our local sites.
The soft and hard corals, sponges, and crustaceans, like lobsters, crabs, and shrimp, make up this fabulous marine biodiversity. Both the loggerhead, green, and leatherback turtles complete this underwater world.
Fishing Season:
The waters surrounding our coastline are considered some of the greatest fishing waters in the world.
Spend a wonderful day Blue Water Sport Fishing and catch a variety of game fish such as the excellent eating Mahi-Mahi, Tuna, Barracuta, King Fish, Wahoo, and more. Also experience the exciting challenge of the largest of game fish, the Sailfish and its equal, the White and the Blue Marlin... all awesome fighters,each a thrill in itself.Fishing opportunities are endless for you, your family, and your friends. Our fishing boat, The Añejo, is just a short walk down our private beach.
